Made of forged steel with hardness 60.0-61.0 on the Rockwell scale, from the best Izumo Yasugi steel, which is traditionally used for Katana swords used by samurai. Izumo Yasugi steel is characterized by a high carbon content and is forged by the best master blacksmiths in Japan, using an old technology. This process takes place only in the Izumo region, using exclusively Izumo iron sand. The soft metal in the core retains flexibility, so that the cutting blade always aligns with the meter blade, even after heavy use. This perfection and a unique quality can be recognized by “weighing” the scissors. Among specialists, Okatsune scissors are recognized by their specific, unique cutting sound.
Japanese white oak handles are well known to absorb vibrations, so working with these scissors will be a very pleasant experience. The combination of the 200 mm long blade and the 300 mm handles ensures a perfect balance and sufficient strength that you need to easily cut the fence or to cut the branches.
USE: We recommend cleaning the blades after use. After cleaning, it is wise to grease the scissors and keep the cutting blades closed without moisture. Over time, if you notice that the scissors cut less well, you can sharpen it with special Okatsune stone. Although Okatsune scissors are made of the finest steels, they can rust over time if not properly maintained !!
